Care Guide
How to Care for Your Jewellery
Proper care keeps your pieces beautiful for years to come. Follow these simple steps to maintain the lustre and integrity of your jewellery.
Daily Wear
Remove jewellery before swimming, showering, or exercising. Chlorine, salt water, and perspiration can damage metals and gemstones. Store pieces in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not wearing them.
Cleaning
Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe your jewellery after each wear. For deeper cleaning, use lukewarm water with a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. Rinse thoroughly and dry immediately with a soft cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals and ultrasonic cleaners unless recommended for your specific piece.
Gemstones
Different gemstones require different care. Diamonds, sapphires, and rubies are durable and can handle gentle cleaning. Softer stones like opals, pearls, and emeralds need extra care—avoid prolonged exposure to water and never use abrasive materials.
Metals
Gold, silver, and platinum develop natural patinas over time. Light tarnishing is normal and adds character. Polish gently with a soft cloth if desired. Store silver separately from other metals to prevent scratching.
Professional Maintenance
Have your jewellery professionally inspected and cleaned annually. A jeweller can check settings, repair damage, and restore shine. This is especially important for pieces with delicate settings or precious gemstones.
Storage Tips
Keep each piece in a separate compartment or soft pouch to prevent tangling and scratching. Avoid storing jewellery in humid environments. Consider a jewellery box with a soft lining for added protection.
